Hi Kylee, thanks for stopping by!

I have had much the same experience myself. A lot of my early life was incredibly isolated from culture due to the fear that I would be somehow "contaminated" by the world. I'm glad to hear that there are more Christians and congregations out there who are taking a more balanced view on the matter.

Growing up in the Fundamentalist Faith, I can totally relate to this article. As of about 1 and a half years ago, I started attending an Evangelical Covenent Church which I joined about a year and I am very blessed. Acting, secular music, art was considered to be of Satan. I am truly thankful to be part of a congregation of believers that seeks Christ in all forms of media. I am definitely adding your blog to the blogs that I like list on my blog.

Hey petersonion (cool nick). Thanks for stopping by!

Wow. "beauty is one of the five senses of Satan's realm"?! That has to be one of the scariest things I've heard in while. Sure Satan can use beauty, but he did not come up with it. Satan can only distort and misappropriate what God has already created. I talk about this in my post on "LOTR and Evil" below.

Beginning to lack? The evangelical community has nearly always lacked. We've got a few other posts up concerning art and culture, check out What Is Christian Art?, Is Fantasy Escapism?, Christianity And Culture, and a couple others.

I had this conversation with the evangelical blog Sword-at-Ready, and when I asked who modern Christianity's culture makers are (who are the people making Christianity beautiful), he said that beauty is "of the five senses and Satan's realm".

There has to be relevance and vitality for great art: perhaps Christianity is beginning to lack?
